Azure Synapse Analytics started out as a rebrand of Azure SQL Data Warehouse that an added Apache Spark-based data lake features. But that description doesn’t properly represent what Synapse is meant to be: an integrated experience that consolidates a huge and growing swath of the Azure data analytics stack. So, in addition to the warehouse and lake, you get adaptations of and integrations with Azure Data Factory for data pipelines, Azure Data Explorer for telemetry analytics, Power BI for data visualization, Azure Machine Learning for AI, Azure Purview for data governance and Cosmos DB for operational analytics.

This session will cover the basics of Synapse, then branch out into selected end-to-end demos that show you how all the pieces fit together. You’ll learn about the platform, see how it works, get a very useful tour of the Synapse Studio browser-based IDE and pick up some data lake and machine learning experience along the way.
