Developing New Experiences

TH14 UX Design in a Virtual World

03/23/2023

1:15pm - 2:30pm

Level: Introductory

Billy Hollis

Developer. Designer. Speaker. Author.

Traditionally, user experience design has been done with a lot of in-person collaboration. While this has advantages, and hopefully will return to a common case, distributed teams and operations now make distributed, virtual UX design a necessity. Based on carrying out large-and small-scale virtual design projects in 2021, Billy Hollis will cover how he adapted long-standing design processes to a virtual project, lessons learned, and even some advantages to doing design virtually. He will look at the entire design process in a virtual world, with a 30-page resource for the end-to-end UX design process. The session is also suitable for developers and managers who are not well-versed in design processes along with other interaction designers and general UX designers.

You will learn:

  • See an overview of a typical, lightweight design process
  • Find out how UX design techniques change when teams operate virtually
  • Learn a hybrid design process that combines the best of in-person and virtual/remote work
