Many developers think "design" is synonymous with "visual design". But there are many different ways that design and design thinking can help teams produce more valuable applications, and visual design is only one of them. In this session, we'll cover the various levels of design effort. Attendees will get tips on applying design thinking to their own projects, from basic do's and don'ts all the way through facilitating organization-spanning innovation. Resources and guidelines will be supplied to learn the various components of design thinking, including design principles, selecting a process for design suited to your level of design effort, listening and facilitation to avoid design roadblocks, and techniques for dealing with inertia when trying to apply design innovation.
