Level: Introductory to Intermediate
Welcome to the dark side! Microsoft loves Linux and continues to make some of the most popular apps for OS X, as well as a few apps—over 50 at last count—for a fairly popular mobile OS: iOS. But as a developer, why should you care? In this session, Brian Randell will give you a crash course in working with and building apps on Linux and OS X. He'll talk about working with the shell and developer tools, with particular focus on Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, and IntelliJ and show you how they fit into the larger team workflow with TFS and/or VSTS.
You will learn:
- What tools work where
- What types of apps you can build with your existing skills
- How to work in a heterogeneous team
